About the Jazz in Bridgewater Concert Series
Jazz in Bridgewater makes its home in the acoustic Theatre of the Somerset County Vocational and Technical Schools. The 600 seat hall is just two blocks from Bridgewater Commons, a major shopping mall at the meeting point of Route 22, Routes 202/206 and Interstate 287, with Interstate 78 nearby.
The music starts at 8 PM. Two one-hour sets with an intermission, during which CDs are sold.
Ticket pricing are a modest $15 per seat if purchased in advance. They go up to $20 at the door. Most tickets are purchased in advance. Seats are not assigned, but there really are no bad seats in the place. In fact, the farther back you go, the better it sounds.
Advance tickets may be purchased by sending checks (payable to Somerset County United Way) to Box 6835, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Credit card purchases (using any of four popular cards) may be made by calling (908) 725-6640 during business hours.
Tickets will be sent by return mail, along with a map and easy directions to the convenient auditorium site, if requested. It is located on Vogt Drive at North Bridge Street in Bridgewater, next to the County Library and convenient to all highways.
The superior acoustics of the Bridgewater auditorium allow Jazz in Bridgewater concerts to be presented essentially without amplification. Think Carnegie Hall, where microphones are used only for voice. The room has unobstructed entry from ground level, especially convenient for those with disabilities, with large parking lots adjacent to the building. The school maintains a smoke-free environment.
The highly respected New Jersey Jazz Society is co-sponsor of this series, in addition to its own Pee Wee Russell Memorial Stomp and JazzFest. Members of the Society receive Jersey Jazz, a monthly magazine covering jazz topics and local events.
Jazz in Bridgewater raises funds for the Somerset County United Way, supporting and assisting 57 non-profit organizations in their important humanitarian work.
